There is a gorgeous mosquito net over my huge bed. I used it my first night here but struggled to tie it back up the next morning (the housekeeper redid it probably after laughing at my feeble attempt that I was quite proud of) so didn’t bother the second night. Tonight is day 3 in this room and 1 pesky little mosquito has been making its presence felt so I have pulled down the net again to keep the buzzing nuisance away from my blood. One hospital trip in this trip is more than enough – I made an informed decision to not take anti-malarials this trip and don’t want to regret it.

I’m sharing my room with another creature who I think should be managing the mosquito population for his right to stay. He is a cute little gecko who has been running up and down the walls keeping a safe distance from the human. Google image search tells me that he’s a house gecko – it seems that yes he should keep the mozzie population down but he’s also full of paradise and an unhygienic creature so we might need to have words tomorrow about him outstaying his welcome, especially if he’s not earning his keep.
